While channel surfing tonight, we came across Fox Television reality show Nanny 911. The family featured has five boys including 2yo twins. I know that reality shows are edited to make things look more dramatic, but wow these little guys are wild. The mom Tracy is a SAHM and she is frazzled. I thought for a moment, “Do I really want to be a SAHM?”
I have five kids. They range in age from 2 to 15. As you can imagine, our home can get very busy and at times downright loud. When I think back to times when I’ve had a bad day and one or more of the kids are crying or arguing (or both), I would gladly trade my work outside the home job for being home amongst the chaos. So the answer is yes. I REALLY want to be a SAHM. As long as Fox’s nanny can come over and help me out.

Welcome! The purpose of this blog is for me to have a webspace to record my thoughts about becoming a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) or possibly a WAHM (work-at-home-mom).
Over the past thirteen years, I have worked outside the home. Some years full-time, some years part-time, and some lean years self-employed. As of November 4, 2004 I have worked two consecutive years full-time. Before that I was self-employed for four years as a network engineer. Networking, as in “LAN/WAN” not the marketing variety.
To sum things up, I work outside the home while my self-employed husband is at home with our five children. We are both completely ready for a role reversal….or would that be a role re-reversal? Anyway, my goal is to be AT HOME next year.
Stay tuned for more details on how I’m getting there.
