		<description>Hi Carrie,
I&#039;mwriting here in case you come back to check this site. Was wondering how your surgery went. I am debating this surgery right now. The neurologist said yes, hand specialist at OT said yes, and surgeon said...can&#039;t promise you it will be any better after. My tingling/numbness is minor, I have some weakness and awkwardness with fine motor movements sometimes. Docs say there is some muscle wasting...I&#039;m not sure. My most annoying symptom is dull aching pain in elbow, sometimes down to wrist or hand. This varies from almost unnoticeable to moderate, usually just annoyingly present. So torn as I have read so many nightmare stories of how much worse people are afterwards...with this lovely site being a rare exception (yay!) Hope you are doing well. Would love to hear your opinion.

<description>Thank you for posting pictures of your surgery wounds. I&#039;m having surgery for cubital tunnel syndrome on my left arm on Friday and I&#039;m super nervous. It&#039;ll be my first surgery (I&#039;m 24 years old), but not my first time going under anesthesia. My doctor said he was going to see how the nerve looked before deciding whether to transpose or not, and may just loosen things up, but decide when he&#039;s inside. I have complete faith in him because my mom (who is also a doctor, but now practicing primary care medicine, but trained in surgery) was two years ahead of him in residency and they worked together. Plus, she&#039;s had bilaterial carpal tunnel syndrome surgeries done by him. I probably wouldn&#039;t trust anyone else. But I digress. For the past couple of years, I&#039;ve been dealing with both hands going numb and being painful and it&#039;s been getting worse (pinkie and ring finger), so we decided to do something about it. My left seemed to be worse than the right, and now, this Friday (May 7th, 2010), I&#039;m going under the knife to hopefully alleviate the pain, but I&#039;ll probably have to have the right arm done as well.

Seeing results really helps alleviate some of the fears, part of my fear is of the unknown. Thank you for helping me see what to expect. I very much appreciate it.

<description>Hi, just had the same surgery along with carpal tunnel surgery. As we speak I can&#039;t really do anything. I don&#039;t see a difference except more spasms in my whole arm everyday. They have me on flexeril and vicodon. Seems to help but can&#039;t go anywhere on this medication. If I don&#039;t take it I&#039;m bed ridden in pain. Lost sleep is my enemy. I hope things will get better but as it stands now I&#039;m more worse off then before the surgery. I&#039;m a mom to of 5 and unfortunately have to be there for my kids, me second to them. Speaking of, made dinner tonight for the kids for first time since my surgery and couldn&#039;t cut the meat to serve the kids. Had to ask one of them to do it. Heck, lets talk about me now! The list is so long at what I can&#039;t d, that I will tell you only a few. Can&#039;t squeaze the toothpaste out, let alone shave my legs, No writting anything, and putting on a bra is hilarious at best to watch me do, sleeping with 5 pillows and up every hour on the hour. Help!

		<description>Hi,
I had a injury at work March 26th of this year. I worked for a metal shop making metal parts. One of the machines that cuts metal was being cleaned and the spindle grabbed my arm and pulled me in. The spindle wrapped my shirt around my arm crushing it, while at the same time pulling at my elbow and shoulder. My bicep tendon in my shoulder was dislocated, rotator cuff torn, ulnar nerve in elbow was stretched and crushed, torn tendon in elbow and I have developed tendonitis in elbow and shoulder. I have been given many types of medication for pain relief, one of which is Lyrica. Unfortunately my nerve damage is to severe for the that nerve medicine to help me. I am now taking Lortab and ultracet to control my pain. I also have TENS unit treatment which helps with the pain as well. I have been waiting along time for help with my injury due to workers compensation. My doctors have ordered decompression transposition of ulnar nerve in elbow and rotator cuff and bicep tendon surgery. I am currently awaiting for approval from workers compensation to have these surgeries. Both doctors plan to both surgeries the same day. I was told due to the severity of my nerve injury my chances of the sugery helping me are 40%. I understand the pain you suffered and I am so glad you found relief with this surgery. I thank you for sharing the after surgery pictures with us. I hope I have relief as well from this surgery.

Still Waiting,
Lori</description>

		<description>Hi Heather,

Thanks for stopping by. My surgery was done outpatient and it took a little over two hours. I had general anesthesia. I spent one hour in recovery and after I had something to eat, I was able to go home.

Ask your doctor about doing a nerve block during the surgery. I had one and it made the post-op recovery so much easier because I was numb from the neck down. It wore off the next morning.

Please let me know how your surgery and recovery go! I am contemplating having my left arm done in the Spring.

Take care,

Maura

<description>Thank you so much for the info about cubital tunnel. I was diagnosed with it back in April 2007 and have tried conservative treatment. At the end of this semester (in Dec), I will have the surgery, but my dr. has assured me he will make a much smaller incision than your 8in one. My major concern right now is regarding the actual surgery...was yours done as an outpatient procedure, or did you have to stay a night in the hospital? I have read things about the surgery that said both. Thank you so much!!

I&#039;m sorry your symptoms are getting worse. I wish you well with your upcoming surgery.

<description>I am going to have this surgery soon, probably in January. I had this problem for years, and it is getting worse.
